What is the MDGP Register?

If the Million Dollar Green Page is to be a tool for enabling and catalysing the change we want to see for a sustainable planet, a Search function is needed to optimise its usefulness.  So we have created the Million Dollar Green Page Search function and called it our Register.  Other descriptions could have been  almanac or green yellow pages! Once recorded in the Register, a reference is there for posterity as a record of Social/Eco entrepreneurship.

This Register is, if you like, a green version of the yellow pages, listing those who are active in the business of saving the planet, rather than doing you know what!  By searching the site, you will get to those who have pixel adverts on the two front pages and also those  who have chosen not to take pixels.  Those without pixel adverts do not have the option of having a direct link from the registry page through to their own website.

Once the MillionDollarGreenPage is full, it is full! And the Register will provide a handy method for future generations to search out who was at the vanguard of saving the planet, and by corollary who was not! Funds raised from the sale of pixels go towards the BetheChange/Transition Town Cycle Expedition from Totnes to Tokyo in 2009-10, giving the “Be the Change symposium” in every major city en route, to change the dream of the modern world, to one where we live on the Earth from a  one planet perspective, not two, three, four or five!

This gives a free basic listing

Enhanced Entry
This gives an enhanced listing with full contact details, up to 3 categories for searching, and up to one page to describe the products and services offered, together with the particular approach and philosophy. By clicking on the company logo, there is a direct connection to the main company website.

Companies that choose to purchase pixels on the main page, and affix their corporate logo on the front page will automatically get an enhanced directory listing, with a link from the main webpage to their MillionDollarGreenPage register entry, and from their register entry to their own website. This makes this pixel site unique, and different from all other pixel advertising sites. (This component will be up and running fully for Valentines Day 2009!)

Of course, to go truly green means not only buying products and services mindful of the energy intensity in their production, the carbon miles incurred in transportation, and the amount, or lack thereof, of packaging, but also starting to reduce unnecessary and particularly wasteful consumption too. The environmental problems, and associated social justice issues, are caused by the unceasing urge to keep consuming more and more and more.

To go truly green requires scaling back on consumption, becoming aware that we humans are a part of nature and not outside of it, and to be committed to social justice in our communities too.

We hope our Register will be a useful contribution to green living. It aims to be a useful contribution to facilitate a relationship of reverence and care with the planet, and will be a reference for posterity of all those companies and organisations making a positive difference to protect the planet rather than plunder it.
